These are the questions Hack Your Muse students…and other writers… want answered.
Q. How Am I Really Going to Finish a Novel Draft in 8 Weeks?
You are going to commit. To your novel. To your dream. To yourself.
Don’t worry about typing THE END now. That’s 8 weeks of lessons away. I’ll give you all the resources you need about what to do with a finished draft at the end of this course. Concentrate on the writing for now.
There is no right. There is no wrong. There is only what works for you.
This course will help you discover the kind of writer you are as you write.
I’m going to be your guide to getting it done.
Q. Will my draft be polished and ready to submit to an editor?
Writers need editors, that’s a fact.
All writers are not created equal. You may find you write polished prose, editing as you go. Or you may prefer to dive into a messy first draft and sort out the good from the bad from the ugly when you are finished.
Do what feels right, and worry about when to find an editor at the end of the 8 weeks.
Q. Will you tell me how to write my novel?
Absolutely not.
A quick study of successful writers will tell you that every writer has her own way of writing her novel. This course is your opportunity to find out what will work for you while you write.
This course will offer resources and tips to get the writing done. You will choose which work for you.
The most important thing you’ll do in this course is to make the commitment to learn about yourself as a writer.
- Can you stick to a plan?
- Does the next shiny new idea grab your attention before you’re finished with the first one?
- Do you need complete silence or the bustle of a coffee shop to free your creativity?
If you have tried writing before, you may already know some of the tricks that work for you. If not, take a look at other areas of your life where you had to commit: weight loss, healthy eating, yoga, university program. Think about what worked for you in those areas.
- Do you prefer a detailed blueprint?
- Do you need a lot of flexibility?
- Can you keep to a set routine, or do you need to schedule each day as it comes?
- Would you rather be surprised by your characters and your plot twists?
- Does venturing off the path you thought the book was taking make you anxious or excited?
Don’t worry if you don’t know any of the answers to these questions. You will by the end of this course.
Knowing your preferences will help you get to THE END with confidence and pride.
Knowing your writing style and working method will allow you to choose you the tools that work for you and your dream.
